Ho Chi Minh City and Chungcheongbuk seek to bolster ties
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City is ready to further promote links with Chungcheongbuk province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in potential fields such as high technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and green agriculture, said Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Hoan made the statement during a reception on June 7 for Kim Myung Kyoo, deputy governor of Chungcheongbuk province, who was on a business trip to the southern city.
He emphasised that the Vietnam-RoK relationship has developed impressively over recent years, with both countries upgrading their ties to that of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year.
On the back of the positive development of the two countries’ partnership, Hoan suggested that Ho Chi Minh City and Chungcheongbuk strengthen connectivity, build co-ordination mechanisms, and sign a co-operation agreement moving forward.
For his part, Deputy Governor Kyoo said he was impressed by the southern hub’s strong and dynamic development, as well as the friendliness and hospitality of local residents. He expressed Chungcheongbuk’s desire to further strengthen the joint relationship across multiple fields with the city.
With the strength of semiconductor production and biotechnology, Chungcheongbuk province's enterprises are keen to devise specific plans for collaboration to make major contribution to the southern city’s economic development, he said.
