HCM City welcomes top RoK legislator on Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - Phan Van Mai, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City administration, on January 13 received Kim Pin-pyo, speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, who is in Vietnam for an official visit at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Vuong Dinh Hue.
Mai briefed his guest on the city’s recent development achievements, and said Ho Chi Minh City expects the National Assembl of the Rok and speaker Kim personally will help foster cooperation between the city and RoK localities in the fields of investment, tourism, culture, sports, people diplomacy, as well as in digital transformation, technology application, urban governance, urban traffic management, and climate change response.
As the RoK is Ho Chi Minh City’s fourth largest investor at present, he said the municipal administration always attaches importance to removing difficulties for businesses operating in the city.
He voiced his support for a project to expand a Korea school in the locality and said the city has proposed the government facilitate the granting of visa and implementation of tax policy for RoK businesses and citizens.
According to the official, Ho Chi Minh City has a friendly relationship with seven RoK localities, including Busan, and it will support Busan’s bid to host the World Expo 2030.
Speakr Kim for his part highly appreciated Ho Chi Minh City introducing policies to support RoK businesses and citizens, making a practical contribution to the positive development of the RoK - Vietnam relations over the years.
He proposed Ho Chi Minh City continue to create favourable conditions for the expansion of the Korea school in the city, support the Korean community in applying for visas and related procedures, and assist Korean businesses related to tax policy implementation.
He said to host the World Expo 2030 Busan city has poured more investment into urban management to turn it into a smart urban model, and suggested Ho Chi Minh City visit, learn from experience, and cooperate with Busan in the field of digital transformation, smart city construction, and urban governance.
