Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou visits Ha Long Bay
VOV.VN - Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on May 17 made a tour of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO recognized world heritage site, in Quang Ninh province, continuing her official visit to Vietnam from May 15-19.
Welcoming the Greek President and her entourage, Bui Van Khang, vice chairman of the provincial administration, introduced the distinguished guests to the outstanding geological, geomorphological, historical and cultural values of Ha Long Bay – a world heritage site and a world natural wonder.
President Katerina Sakellaropoulou said she was impressed with the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay as well as the hospitability and friendliness of local people.
After the welcoming ceremony, she then got on board a cruise ship to tour Ha Long Bay.
Ha Long Bay, literally the bay of the descending dragon, is a famous tourist destination in Quang Ninh, northern Vietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes.
It has been recognized twice by UNESCO and one of the new seven wonders of nature.
