Former Israeli PM Barak in Vietnam for development talks

VOV.VN - Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak of Israel is making a trip to Vietnam for talks on Remaking the World – Toward an Age of Global Enlightenment, said the Boston Global Forum.

During his trip from August 2 - 19, Barak will be travelling to a number of localities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hue, Hanoi and Ha Long, said the Boston Global Forum that sponsors his trip.

He is expected to meet Vietnamese leaders and join a High-level Dialogue in Hanoi to help make Vietnam form a closer relationship with Boston, Massachusetts, and become a flagship of the Age of Global Enlightenment.

The dialogue will be held on August 16 by the Boston Global Forum.

On August 5, the former Israeli PM visited major historical landmarks and tourist attractions in Ho Chi Minh City, including Tran Hung Dao Statue, Bach Dang wharf, Nguyen Hue walking street, Ben Thanh market among others.

Earlier, he met with Vietnamese businessmen, called at an exhibition of paintings by hundreds of disadvantaged children at Vinh Nghiem pagoda, and chatted with Vietnamese students to instill learning passions in them.

Ehud Barak was Israel’s 10th Prime Minister, serving in office from 1999 to 2001. He had worked as Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Israel before taking the helm of the Israeli government.
