VOV.VN - Vietnam wishes to increase cooperation with Canada in post-pandemic priority areas such as economic recovery, high-quality infrastructure construction, green development and sustainable development and human resource development.

Vietnam also expects to coordinate closely with Canada to promote good, substantive and effective development of the ASEAN-Canada relations.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son made suggestions during a reception given to Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Perry Steil in Hanoi on June 10.

Son expressed his hope that the Ambassador during his working term would continue to actively contribute to the development of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, especially when the two countries will celebrate their five years of the Comprehensive Partnership in 2022 and 50 years of their diplomacy in 2023.

He asked the Ambassador to coordinate in promoting visits by senior leaders of the two countries as well as the exchange of delegations at all levels.

Ambassador Shawn Perry Steil expressed his impression of Vietnam’s outstanding development and the friendliness of local people.

Appreciating the good results of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership in the past time, the Ambassador affirmed that Canada considers Vietnam one of its important partners in the region.

He vowed to work closely with ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to beef up cooperation bilaterally, regionally and internationally.
