Fidel Castro selected works published in Vietnam on 100th birth anniversary
VOV.VN - Vietnam has introduced a 24-volume Spanish-language collection of selected works by Fidel Castro Ruz to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary leader's birth, highlighting his political legacy and the enduring special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
The collection was launched at a ceremony in Hanoi on August 5 jointly organised by the Truth National Political Publishing House and the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education.
The publication brings together leader Fidel Castro's speeches, writings, interviews, messages and key historical documents spanning his revolutionary career.
Comprising nearly 15,000 pages, the collection is organised chronologically into four major historical periods, reflecting both the development of the Cuban Revolution and Fidel Castro's political life.
Preserving Fidel Castro’s legacy
In his remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Trong Lam, director and editor-in-chief of the Truth National Political Publishing House, noted that the publication was compiled under strict editorial standards to ensure historical accuracy and documentary value.
He said the contents were carefully reviewed and cross-checked to preserve the original historical and political significance of Fidel Castro's works, while the design complies with both Vietnam's Publishing Law and Cuba's publishing standards for works related to the Cuban leader.
Taking the floor, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes welcomed the publication of the first Spanish-language edition in Vietnam on the occasion of Fidel Castro's centenary.
He described it as a meaningful tribute by the Vietnamese people to a leader who consistently expressed unwavering solidarity with Vietnam during its struggle for national liberation, reunification and socialist development.
Strengthening Vietnam-Cuba friendship
According to organisers, the collection serves not only as an important political, historical and cultural publication but also as a valuable resource for research, teaching and the study of the Cuban leader’s life, career and political thought.
The publication is also expected to further promote the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
Building on the Spanish-language edition, the Truth National Political Publishing House will continue working with the Fidel Castro Ruz Centre to publish English and Vietnamese editions, making Fidel Castro's intellectual legacy accessible to a broader readership both in Vietnam and internationally.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential revolutionary leaders of the twentieth century, Fidel Castro remains deeply respected in Vietnam as a steadfast friend and close comrade whose enduring support laid a strong foundation for the special relationship between the two countries.
