ASEAN leaders pay courtesy visit to Cambodian King ahead of regional summits

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of ASEAN countries who are in Phnom Penh for ASEAN Summits ad related meetings paid a courtesy visit to Cambodian Norodom Sihamoni on November 10.

The King welcomed ASEAN leaders and noted ASEAN has overcome lots of difficulties and challenges to become a politically and economically connected community today. On the basis of the ASEAN Charter, the grouping’s central role has been increasingly affirmed through ASEAN-led mechanisms, effectively contributing to peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region.

Cambodia, in its capacity as ASEAN Chair 2022, wishes to promote solidarity and self-reliance, creating a solid foundation for ASEAN to ramp up post-pandemic sustainable recovery and further deepen the friendly relations between ASEAN countries and partners, said the King.  

The King expressed his belief that goodwill and sincere exchanges between countries will contribute to strengthening the value of dialogue and cooperation, and promoting trust and understanding among countries.

The leaders of ASEAN countries hailed Cambodia’s contributions in its role as ASEAN Chair 2022 and said ASEAN countries will continue to enhance solidarity to successful build a united, self-resilient and prosperous community.

On behalf of the government of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed Vietnam will work closely with Cambodia to contribute to ASEAN community building efforts.

The 40th and 41st ASEAN summits and related meetings, including ASEAN + 1, ASEAN + 3, East Asia Summit and US-ASEAN summit will be held in Cambodia from November 11 to 13.
