Ambassador of Hungary honoured with friendship insignia
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisation (VUFO) on July 28 presented outgoing Ambassador of Hungary to Vietnam Ory Csaba with its insignia For Peace and Friendship Among Nations.
Addressing the ceremony, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga noted that Ambassador Ory Csaba has made important contributions to the development of relations between Vietnam and Hungary across various fields during his working term starting in 2015.
The two countries established their comprehensive partnership during the Hungary visit in September 2018 by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Another Hungary visit in June 2022 by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue was expected to help promote comprehensive cooperation in all fields, especially in economy-trade and investment on the back of the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
Notably, she said Hungary is the first EU member state to ratify the EU – Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Hungary has witnessed a considerable rise over the past few years, with the turnover reaching US$1.3 billion in 2020 or 4.7 times higher than 2017, and US$1.1 billion in 2021 despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ambassador also proposed increasing Hungarian scholarships for Vietnamese students, and promoting relations between localities of the two countries. He also performed a vital role in Hungary’s decision to deliver COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies to Vietnam.
Ambassador Ory Csaba expressed his honour to receive the insignia and said he would support stronger partnership between Vietnam and Hungary in future.
