AIPA-41 website makes debut in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The official website of the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-41) went online in Hanoi on August 13, alongside the launch of a mobile application and an identity programme.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who is also President of the AIPA-41 General Assembly and Head of the National Steering Committee for the AIPA 41, was in attendance at the ceremony to debut the initiatives, together with a number of senior Vietnamese officials.
Addressing the event, NA Chairwoman Ngan stated that as AIPA Chair 2020, the NA is striving to successfully organise the 41st AIPA General Assembly and related activities.
This therefore marks an important event in terms of the foreign affairs of the current 14th NA and will contribute to highlighting the country’s State and parliamentary diplomacy, she noted.
According to the NA Chairwoman, this marks the third time that the NA has taken on the role of AIPA Chair and organised the AIPA General Assembly, thereby demonstrating the role and responsibility of the NA in relation to the AIPA.
Using the address http://aipa2020.vn, the website will provide official sources of information on the AIPA-41 and other related activities.
During the recent second session of the National Steering Committee and the Organising Committee for AIPA 41 held in Hanoi, NA Chairwoman Ngan stated that the 41st AIPA General Assembly will take place virtually between September 8-10 at the International Conference Centre in the capital.
This marks the first time that such a gathering involving ASEAN parliamentary leaders will be held online due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
