Deputy PM sanguine on cooperation with Japan’s Aichi prefecture

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception on August 26 for Governor of Japan’s Aichi Prefecture Omura Hideaki.

The function saw Deputy PM Son express his hopes that the sixth visit to Vietnam made by the Japanese official will boost friendly co-operation between Aichi and Vietnam as a means of contributing to the overall development of the joint comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese diplomat showed his elation at the substantive progress made in mutual ties, particularly following the upgrade of bilateral ties to that of a comprehensive strategic partnership last year. He emphasized that the past five decades of achievements serve as a solid foundation, a source of inspiration, and the driving force for the two countries to continue expanding their relationship in a more substantive manner.

During his recent official visit to Japan, he co-chaired the 13th session of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee alongside the Japanese Foreign Minister, with a focus on substantive discussions aimed at concretizing the new framework of bilateral ties.

Applauding collaboration between Aichi and Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and localities, Deputy PM Son affirmed that the Vietnamese Government places importance on intensifying locality-to-locality exchanges, considering it to be a key pillar in terms of their overall relationship.

He therefore thanked Governor Hideaki and Aichi authorities for offering support to the nearly 60,000 Vietnamese living, studying, and working there, suggesting that they continue facilitating the exchange of delegations and people-to-people interactions. This is along with stepping up substantive and effective co-operation with Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and localities through various flexible forms.

Deputy PM Son stated his wish for Aichi’s support to incentivize its businesses to increase investments in the nation, particularly in sectors where the prefecture has strengths such as automotive manufacturing, railways, aviation, and hi-tech agriculture.

The Vietnamese Government is in the process of working to improve regulatory frameworks and administrative reform aimed at facilitating successful business operations for Japanese companies in the Vietnamese market, he said.

The host also asked Aichi to expand its acceptance of Vietnamese interns and workers, contributing to its socio-economic development whilst helping the country to train a quality workforce for its industrialization and modernization.

He said he hopes the Japanese locality will help Vietnamese airlines to increase flight frequency and launch new routes to Aichi, thereby contributing to trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges between the nation and the Japanese province.

Governor Hideaki, for his part, informed Deputy PM Son that Aichi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on investment promotion with the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and another MoU on friendly co-operation with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

While in the nation, he also held working sessions with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Vietnam Airlines, and Vietjet to explore potential co-operation in transportation and investment.

With around 200 Aichi-based firms investing in the Vietnamese market and a thriving Vietnamese community of 60,000 residents, Aichi stands as the leading Japanese prefecture engaged with the country, following by Tokyo with about 54,000, Governor Hideaki added.

He voiced his hope that the Vietnamese Government will consider opening a consulate general in Nagoya and encouraging airlines to enhance connectivity with Aichi.
