VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Defence and Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception on November 10 in Hanoi for Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo.

During the meeting Deputy Minister Chien told his guest that despite the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, co-operation between both sides and their respective armies has been successfully maintained and developed. In addition, there has been the good implementation of common perceptions by the two countries’ senior Party and State leaders, therefore ensuring that co-operation targets are met in line with the 2020 plan.

Deputy Minister Chien went on to affirm that, under any circumstances, the relationship between the Armed Forces of each nation will always represent an important pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership and co-operation between both Vietnam and China.

In response, Ambassador Bo congratulated the Vietnamese Lieutenant General on his new position as Deputy Minister of Defence, expressing his hope that the Deputy Minister will continue to make contributions to bilateral co-operation ties, especially with regard to defence.

The Chinese diplomat emphasised that, despite facing the complicated nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, defence co-operation continues to be strengthened by practical activities and mutual support in terms of health as a means of assisting the army of each country to prevent and control the virus.
