Cuban media highlight talks between Party chiefs of Cuba and Vietnam

VOV.VN - Phone talks conducted between Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on May 6 were mentioned by Cuban media outlets on May 6.

Granma daily newspaper, the official voice of the PCC, reported details of the talks between the two Party chiefs of Cuba and Vietnam through a front-page article.

It stated that both leaders reiterated their intentions to continue strengthening the special relations of friendship and co-operation which exist between the two nations, Parties, and Government. Indeed, these close ties are the enduring legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz along with legendary revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh.

State news agency Prensa Latina cited a press release by the PCC which outlines that during conversations, the Vietnamese Party chief congratulated Diaz-Canel on his election to the position of the First Secretary of the PCC Central Committee.

General Secretary Trong also passed on his warmest regards to former First Secretary of the PCC General Raul Castro Ruz.

During the course of talks, Diaz-Canel informed the Vietnamese party leader on the outcomes of the eight National Congress of the PCC which was held from April 16 to April 19. He expressed his gratitude to Vietnam for continuing to provide support for Cuba in its fight against the economic, trade, and financial sanctions imposed by the United States.

Diaz-Canel also wished the nation success in carrying out the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Congress of the CPV, according to reports by Prensa Latina.

Furthermore, various other news agencies and online newspapers, including Cuban News Agency (ACN), Cubadebate, Juventud Rebelde, and Canal Caribe, also gave extensive coverage on the first phone talk held between Diaz-Canel as PCC leader and General Secretary Trong.
