China ready to effectively implement high-level common perceptions with Vietnam
VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu has held a recent meeting with Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui as part of activities within the framework of the 16th Meeting of the Vietnam - China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation which was held on December 10 in Beijing.
At the meeting, both sides agreed that development co-operation projects bring good symbolic value to bilateral relations and many practical benefits to both nations' people, going on to express their willingness to continue close co-ordination and swiftly put the projects into operation.
Regarding a number of specific projects, Deputy Minister Vu proposed that China swiftly approve non-refundable aid to help Vietnam prepare a feasibility study report for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project and co-ordinate to speed up the implementation of the planning of the two railway lines Dong Dang - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong. This is along with accelerating the signing of documents confirming the provision of non-refundable ODA for the Vietnam - China friendship palace repair and maintenance project.
Furthermore, other efforts include completing the project dossier for the construction of a new facility of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine; promptly approving funding for four projects in the social and people's livelihood sectors in Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, and Yen Bai provinces using the aid of CNY600 million, equal to US$82.8 million; and continuing to effectively work together in carrying out human resource training co-operation.
Appreciating the co-operation proposals put forward by Deputy Minister Vu, Zhaohui affirmed his readiness to work with the Vietnamese side to effectively implement the high-level common perceptions whilst striving to put signed projects and documents regarding development co-operation into practice soon, especially in the fields of transport connectivity, human resource development, and improvement of people's living conditions.
China is willing to provide aid in support of Vietnam in building a feasibility report for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway, co-ordinate efforts in developing the planning for the Dong Dang - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong railway, support the training of railway staff, as well as expediting the implementation of the Vietnam - China friendship palace repair and maintenance project. Other proposals include the project to build a new campus of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy and giving priority to Vietnam in accessing multilateral co-operation funds within the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC), Zhaohui added.
