Belarus, Vietnam celebrate major anniversaries
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Embassy in Belarus and the Association of International Friendship and Cultural Exchange of Belarus on May 6 held a ceremony marking the 79th anniversary of Victory Day over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War, the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, and the 49th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the national reunification.
Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu highlighted the various similarities between the victories of the two nations and affirmed that in terms of global history, the victories do not only belong to the peoples of either country, but to all peoples who love peace, freedom, and justice.
He emphasized that the Vietnamese people always remembers the pure solidarity and valuable support and assistance provided by the Soviet people, including the people of Belarus, as well as peace lovers worldwide, adding that Vietnam values the traditional friendship and multi-faceted ties it has with Belarus.
He noted that Vietnam is keen to work alongside Belarusian friends and partners as they continue nurturing friendly bilateral ties.
Representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and Belarusian guests expressed their love and admiration for Vietnamese people, as well as their glorious victories and great achievements in the cause of national defence, construction, and development.
The event launched a broad array of activities as part of "Vietnam Day in Minsk" held from April 15 by the Embassy and the association.
This comes after the Embassy and the Vietnam Trade Office in Belarus held talks with Belarusian economic agencies and representatives of nearly 30 enterprises that have business ties with Vietnam in fields such as economics, trade, and tourism.
