Hanoi blushed with cherry blossom on lunar New Year’s Eve

VOV.VN - The small alleys off Thuy Khe Street in the capital city of Hanoi have become a garden paradise of pink petals as springtime calls the Japanese cherry trees to open their flowers to the sun.

Aside from the yellow apricots, peach blossoms, and kumquat trees which are symbol for Tet in Vietnam, these days, visitors and residents of Vietnam-Japan flower village or Thuy Khe flower village have the chance to bask in the beauty of cherry flowers in full bloom.

According to a local gardener, since 1997, some Japanese friends presented more than 100 cherry trees to Vietnam, which have been grown in Thuy Khe flower village ever since to symbolize the Vietnam-Japan friendship.

The cherry blossoms in Thuy Khe flower village began to bloom a week ago.

Cherry blossoms are fragrant with delicate pink petals. Japanese people use these flowers to make tea and introduce visitors to their unique culture of tea ceremonies.

This is a popular destination for families and young people to take photos.

Cherry blossoms can fade quickly, lasting only for 10-15 days.
