As scheduled the students sit a 120-minute Vietnamese literature test in the morning and a 90 minute mathematics test in the afternoon on July 7. They arrive at their exam councils early in the morning so they can cram in some last minute revision before their first test. Many parents take their children to school and wait anxiously outside until their children finish the test. As part of COVID-19 prevention measures, the students are required to fill out health declaration forms, provide details about their health status and travel history, undergo a body temperature check, wash their hands with sanitizer, and wear face masks. An automated body temperature screening machine is placed in front of the entrance of Viet Duc High School in Hanoi. Barriers are erected in order to prevent the relatives of students from entering exam venues. A special entrance is reserved specifically for students who have symptoms such as coughing, a fever, and breath shortness. A medical worker checks the temperature of a student before allowing him to enter the exam room. Students move in separate lanes as a means of keeping up social distancing measures. A huge number of volunteers are mobilised from universities in order to support the students. More than 11,000 students who are unable to attend the first phase of exams due to COVID-19 will sit the tests in the second phase, with the exact dates yet to be determined. VOV
