The dialogue takes place in Bac Giang province with the participation of approximately 4,500 local workers, and is connected to all 63 cities and provinces nationwide. Besides the Prime Minister, leaders of relevant ministries and agencies, especially those from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, take part in the dialogue. The Prime Minister hopes he wants to listen, share, and exchange ideas to find out solutions to the problems put forward by employees and employers. Nguyen Thi Lan, a worker at Hosiden Company, says she currently rents a lodging house covering an area of 12m-15m2/, which is too small for the whole family to live in. “I do expect that the government will have a reasonable support mechanism and policy so that workers like me can afford a low-cost house.” . Sitting in a wheelchair Pham Van Son, a worker of Luxshare ICT, says he unfortunately suffered an injury in a serious traffic accident on the way to work in October 2021. After the accident, the company supported the insurance. He hopes the government will have a proper compensation mechanism for unfortunate workers like him. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour says they have received about 10,000 questions and requests from employees and employers nationwide, focusing on an increase in minimum wage, investment in housing projects for workers, builing schools for their children among others. With regard to the security policy, workers request that the government amend the insurance policy so that workers will stick to social insurance and that they will not quit work and withdraw social insurance premiums once. Workers also hope to have a credit policy for them to support their borrowing and prevent usury. They also request that the government improve vocational training, and handle businesses’ violations regarding labour contracts, social insurance payment, food safety, and safety in the workplace.
