Over 520 pregnant women arrive at Thanh Nhan hospital on September 11 in order to be injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. According to Dr. Tran Quyet Thang, head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the hospital is set to inoculate more than 1,000 pregnant women over two days. Dr. Thang says that pregnant women are more vulnerable to the virus as they are likely to develop respiratory failure more rapidly compared to others. Without early intervention, the virus could potentially threaten the life of both mothers and fetuses. The vaccination drive comes after an increase in the number of pregnant women infected with COVID-19. According to Dr. Thang, each individual will be injected with the Pfizer vaccine. The majority of them come from Hoang Mai district. The women are given ultrasound screenings and provided with health screenings prior to their injection, as well as undergoing post-injection health monitoring. Pregnant women with underlying health conditions must undergo careful medical checks before getting the jab. Between one and two weeks following their injection, the pregnant women need to go back to the hospital for a checkup. Hanoi capital is speeding up vaccination, aiming to inoculate all of its resident with the first shot by September 15. VOV Mời quý độc giả theo dõi VOV.VN trên
