Sumsung asked to expand investment in Vietnam

VOV.VN -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has suggested Samsung Group expands its investment in Vietnam from assembly of electronic products and research and development to the manufacturing of new generation products so as to meet the needs of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

PM Phuc made the suggestion at a reception for President and CEO of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd Dongjin Koh in Hanoi on April 20.

He applauded the RoK for being the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, saying Samsung’ s operation in Vietnam is the most beautiful flower in the garden of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

The government leader said he is delighted to see the growth of Vietnam-RoK ties across a variety of fields and applauded Samsung’s achievements and contributions to Vietnam’s economic development.

The Vietnamese Government highly appreciated the efforts made by RoK investors, particularly Samsung, in maintaining their top spot among foreign investors in Vietnam for years.

He also highlighted the importance of Samsung’s cooperation, investment and production for the promotion of the two countries’ strategic partnership and pledged the best possible conditions for the group’s effective operations.

PM Phuc also asked the group to continue its training and technology transfer for Vietnamese businesses in the support industry, particularly small- and medium-sized ones, to help them become involved in supplying components for Samsung projects.

For his part, Dongjin Koh said that the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Samsung Electronics Vietnam in Bac Ninh province was a success. He thanked PM Phuc and relevant agencies for facilitating the Group’s operations in Vietnam.

Samsung always prioritises the adoption of the most advanced technologies in its production in Vietnam, he told his host, noting that Vietnam is the main manufacturing hub of the conglomerate in the world.

He affirmed the group’s determination to accompany with Vietnam in its path of development and agreed with the PM’s suggestion for the building of electronic and smart cities in Bac Ninh and other Vietnamese localities.

The Samsung CEO said his group will expand its investment and production scale in Vietnam to generate more jobs, and expects to receive further support for its smooth operations from the Vietnamese Government and relevant agencies.
