Malaysian companies eye Vietnam state owned enterprises

VOV.VN - Malaysian companies on November 24 showed interest in investing in Vietnam’s oil industry and other state owned enterprises at a seminar in Kuala Lumpur sponsored by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

Dang Quyet Tien from the MOF noted during the seminar attended by roughly 170 representatives of the Malaysian business community that the Vietnam government welcomes their interest.

He briefed the participants on the status of the equitization process of state-owned enterprises and discussed the future timeframe for the government’s divestiture of its ownership interest.

Small Malaysian companies are also willing to invest in Vietnam in a broad range of segments, Mr Tien said, adding that they should prove their financial capability before entering any serious negotiations.

He said representatives of the two countries have scheduled more talks and feasibility studies with an eye towards pursuing future investments.
