Hanoi announces plans for IT industrial zone
(VOV) -Hanoi municipal authorities have granted investment certificates to 44 foreign invested enterprises in recent months, primarily concentrated in the information technology (IT) field.
Hanoi Department for Information and Communications Director Phan Lan Tu made the announcement at the department’s press briefing in Hanoi on June 16.Tu said that of the 44 projects, the largest 19 accounted for substantially all, US$5.8 million, of the new investment capital.
Twenty-five other enterprises requested certificates allowing for supplemental capital, increasing their investment in existing projects. Japan leads in foreign investment in Hanoi with 11 projects, followed by the Republic of Korea with five projects, she added.
The Department has overseen the drafting of a proposed zoning plan mapping out a 70-80 ha high-tech software park in Nguyen Khe and Tien Duong communes in Hanoi’s outlying district of Dong Anh, she announced.
With the increased number of firms, investing in the IT filed, the park should facilitate knowledge-based economic development in Hanoi, Tu said.
