Webinar helps bolster exports of medical supplies to Venezuela

VOV.VN - Vietnamese businesses introduced medical supplies to Venezuela on September 11 to help the South American country cope with the health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while attending a webinar launched by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela.

The event aimed to enhance existing economic ties between the two nations, while allowing Vietnamese firms to become more involved in the supply chains in the Latin American market amidst complicated developments relating to COVID-19, with the region rapidly emerging as a new epicentre of the pandemic.

During the webinar, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Le Viet Duyen affirmed the importance that the Vietnamese Government and people place on the friendship and bilateral relations with Venezuela, particularly in fields that can be considered strengths of both sides.

Ambassador Duyen assured participants on the nation’s willingness to share its experiences in national construction, especially as the COVID-19 has been adversely affecting socio-economic life and food security in the region and throughout the world.

The Vietnamese diplomat went on to praise the country’s initial successes in meeting the dual targets of COVID-19 prevention and socio-economic development, adding that this is spurred on by the Government’s stringent policy of early detection, quarantine, and treatment.

The seminar also saw representatives from the two health ministries share measures taken in the fight against the pandemic, while Vietnamese firms were given a platform to introduce their capacity to produce and supply medical equipment, such as ventilators, quick test kits, PCR kits, medical face masks, and protective gear, among others.

Furthermore, the Thanh Long Global Joint Stock Company and the Thien An Pharmaceutical Company Limited used the occasion to make a commitment to present Venezuela with 200,000 face masks. In addition, the Thanh Long International Trading Joint Stock Company will also donate 6,000 N95 face masks to the Venezuelan Ministry of Health.

The Ambassador also expressed his confidence that with support provided by Vietnamese companies, the Venezuelan Government and people will be able to successfully bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control soon, therefore contributing to the South American country’s socio-economic recovery. This will also serve to enhance the sound comprehensive partnership that exists between the two nations.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy took part in working sessions alongside the Venezuelan health and foreign ministries in order to promote agreements relating to medical co-operation and exchanges.
