VinFast joins US-ASEAN Business Council

VOV.VN - The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) announced on December 15 that VinFast, a member of private conglomerate Vingroup, has become the newest member of the council.

The membership of the Board of Directors of the USABC will help VinFast US improve its understanding of the US and ASEAN policies and regulations, thereby contributing to creating a favourable business environment.

In addition, VinFast US will actively participate in the electrification of mobility in both the US and ASEAN as well as supporting the council's ongoing efforts to enhance the US-ASEAN relations.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vingroup Vice Chairwoman and VinFast Global CEO underscored the importance of the USABC in the development of trade and investment in Southeast Asia since its founding in 1984.

The inclusion of US VinFast on the list of members of the USABC along with the world’s leading corporations has demonstrated the importance of the long-term commitment to industrial development in Southeast Asia, she said, adding that the company has been honored to become a member of the prestigious organization.

Ted Osius, President and CEO of USABC, who is also former US Ambassador to Vietnam, expressed his delight to welcome VinFast US to the council, noting that since its establishment, the USABC has always paid a special attention to the important role of ASEAN countries with the US and vice versa.

With large investments in the US and partnerships with a number of the council’s member companies, VinFast US's participation in USABC will benefit the entire council.

Vietnam is the seventh largest trading partner of the US in the world and the biggest trading partner of the US in Southeast Asia in the first half of the year.

VinFast's plan to build an electric vehicle factory in North Carolina in March 2022 has been a testament to the growth of bilateral trade between ASEAN and the US.

The facility is expected to put into operation in 2024 with investment in the initial phase reaching up to US$2 billion. It is expected to generate thousands of jobs for Americans.
