Vietnamese textile and footwear attract buyers at Global Sourcing Expo
VOV.VN - Buyers have showed strong interest and positive impressions of displayed products, with nearly 100 requesting assistance from Vietnam’s trade office to connect with local textile and footwear suppliers.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia reported that amid global trade fluctuations and challenges, it organized a pavilion displaying Vietnam’s textiles, fashion, and leather footwear at the Global Sourcing Expo 2025- Melbourne’s largest exhibition center- to diversify markets and supply chains for the Vietnamese textile and footwear sectors.
The Global Sourcing Expo Australia 2025 is an international event linking global manufacturers with buyers, focusing on apparel, footwear, and textiles. Held twice annually in Sydney and Melbourne, it attracts industry participants from around the world.
This year’s event drew nearly 6,000 visitors. Around 100 buyers approached the Vietnam Trade Office pavilion for support in connecting with Vietnamese suppliers. They expressed keen interest and appreciation for Vietnam’s textile and leather products, particularly shirts made from natural fibers such as bamboo and banana.
The event is part of efforts to deepen cooperation following the upgrade of Vietnam–Australia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming to raise bilateral trade to US$20 billion in the near future.
Through the exhibition and market research, the Trade Office noted that Australian buyers increasingly favor products made from natural, eco-friendly, and low-emission materials. Vietnam already offers textiles made from traditional natural fibers such as silk, brocade, cotton, jute, and ramie, as well as innovative natural fibers including banana, bamboo, coffee grounds, and lotus-based fabrics.
Despite fierce competition in Australia, Vietnamese textiles boast huge potential to expand. The current priorities are securing raw material supplies, investing in trade promotion (with proactive participation in major sourcing fairs and trade missions), improving product quality, building brands, enhancing competitiveness, and closely coordinating with trade promotion agencies to stay informed about market trends.
In recent years, Vietnam’s exports of textiles, apparel, and leather materials to Australia have maintained strong growth. Thanks to the dedication of Vietnam Trade Office staff and the proactive engagement of enterprises and industry associations, Australian consumers can now easily find “Made in Vietnam” products on the shelves of major wholesale supermarkets such as Costco, as well as retail chains and shopping centers.
Continuing its trade promotion and market connection efforts, the Vietnam Trade Office plans to participate again in the Global Sourcing Expo 2026 at ICC Sydney from June 16-18, 2026, thereby helping textile and leather footwear enterprises boost their market expansion.
