Vietnam, Thailand strive to intensify trade exchange activities
VOV.VN - Thailand’s trade office in Ho Chi Minh City hosted a trade exchange programme on July 14 to seek ways for local businesses to join regional supply chains and seize cooperation opportunities that exist between Vietnam and Thailand.

Suparporn Sookmark, Director of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), said her department will organise trade exchange activities on both online and direct platforms in order to provide timely support for firms and maintain trade promotion.
The DITP will continue to intensify trade promotion schemes to create optimal conditions for firms from both countries to enjoy as they fully tap into markets and seek additional business opportunities, she stressed.
Sookmark noted that Thai enterprises will provide support for their Vietnamese partners to participate in regional supply chains and manufacture industrial products for shared development.
Saranya Skontanrak, chairwoman of the Thai Business Association in Vietnam, emphasised that as members of the ASEAN Economic Community, Thailand and Vietnam should promote the diversity of their respective economies in order to attract more foreign investors and establish production and supply chains throughout the region.
With the advantage of a close geographic proximity, there exists great potential for the two countries to become important gateways to ASEAN while simultaneously enjoying favourable conditions when setting up cross-border supply chains. This includes factors such as the enhancement of competitiveness within the production network, a reduction in logistics costs, and free movement of goods and services across borders.
With both nations being prominent members of ASEAN in terms of investment attraction and expansion, more businesses are seeking ASEAN markets or alternative places to invest in.
Thai businesses pointed out that there are bright prospects for cooperation between the pair when Vietnam joins the global value chain to develop value-added products. They are looking for potential Vietnamese partners to share experience and develop a strategic partnership.
