Vietnam sees higher imports from New Zealand in January
VOV.VN - Total trade turnover between Vietnam and New Zealand in January reached US$122 million, up 8% on-year, with imports soaring by nearly 48%, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Of the figure, Vietnamese export earnings to New Zealand dropped by 14.8% to US$61.05 million, while imports rose by 47.9% to US$61.26 million.
Vietnam exported a total of 11 main commodities to the demanding market, with phones and components topping the list in turnover with US$21.4 million, followed by computers, electronic products, and components with US$6.4 million; garments and textiles with US$6.26 million; and footwear with US$4.27 million
The total export turnover of these four products reached US$38.4 million, accounting for 62% of the country’s total export value to this market.
With regard to agricultural products, the nation exported cashew nuts to New Zealand raking in US$2.17 million, trailed by seafood with US$1.53 million, timber and wood products with US$1.69 million, and coffee with US$0.16 million.
Meanwhile, Vietnam imported eight main items from this market. Of which, milk and dairy products were the most imported items with US$39.7 million, up 73% compared to January, 2024.
The largest import turnover was seen in the group of fruit and vegetables followed by timber and wood products, and iron and steel.
Last year, total import-export turnover between the two sides reached US$1.29 billion, down 2.8% compared to 2023. Of which, exports to New Zealand reached US$686 million, up 5.8%, while imports from this country stood at US$604 million, down 11% on-year.
