Vietnam seeks Egyptian foreign investment

(VOV) - The Embassy of Vietnam in Egypt in collaboration with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce organized a workshop on January 26 in Cairo aimed at soliciting investment in the Southeast Asian nation.

Speaking at the seminar, attended by representatives of more than 17 enterprises, Vietnam Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung briefed those in attendance on the investment climate and opportunities.

Chung said there was great room for the growth of cooperation across all sectors and that the Vietnam government looks forward to finding ways to speed up the development of our partnership, for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Over the past few years, the Embassy of Vietnam has cooperated with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce on many occasions to organize trade and investment workshops and seminars.

Chung said the most promising consumer markets in Egypt for Vietnamese products are those related to agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

In 2014, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Egypt reached US$320 million, US$100 million higher than 2013, and it is forecast to jump to US$400 million in 2015.

At the event, Egyptian businesses paid due attention to the investment environment in Vietnam and asked many practical questions.

They said they wanted to participate in more workshops in the future so that they would have more chances to learn about Vietnam’s investment and cooperation opportunities.
