Vietnam records trade deficit of US$124.8 million with Laos
VOV.VN - Two-way trade turnover between the nation and Laos reached more than US$1.2 billion during the past 11 months of the year, up 33.8% from the same period last year, according to figures given by the Vietnam Trade Office in Laos.
Of the total, exports posted more than US$541 million, an increase of 5.4%, while imports were valued at over US$666 million, an increase of 71.3%.
Compared to the same period from 2019 before the global COVID-19 outbreak, two-way turnover rose by 13.7%. This was attributable to a 64.8% rise in imports, however, exports endured a fall of 14.3%.
Most notably, Vietnam continued to run a trade deficit of US$49.96 million in November, thus pushing up the 11-month trade deficit with the neighbour to US$124.8 million.
The total trade turnover between the two countries is thereby anticipated to reach US$1.3 billion by the end of the year.
