Vietnam, Denmark ramp up ties in green growth and digital transformation

VOV.VN - The nation and Denmark boast huge potential to expand future bilateral co-operation, especially in terms of green growth.

Danish State Secretary for Trade and Global Sustainability Lina Hansen made the statement on September 5 whilst speaking at the Vietnam-Denmark Business Forum in Copenhagen.

According to the official, the comprehensive bilateral partnership has created a foundation for co-operation in areas such as energy, health care, agriculture, and education.

Moving forward, Denmark will earmark at least US$1 billion for developing countries, including Vietnam, which it views as one of its priority partners, thereby helping to respond to climate change from 2023. She noted that Denmark hopes that both sides will establish a green strategic partnership to facilitate further collaboration between their respective governments, peoples, and businesses in terms of sustainable development.

The business forum was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark in co-ordination with host agencies as part of activities marking 77th National Day of Vietnam on September 2 and the 55th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties. The event brought together over 100 representatives from major Vietnamese and Danish companies, groups, and investment funds.

In his remarks at the function, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi affirmed that economic, trade, and investment co-operation remains a bright spot in the mutual comprehensive partnership.

He briefed participants on the Vietnamese green growth strategy for the 2021 to 2030 period, reiterating the Vietnamese Government’s resolve and commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reaching the target of net zero emissions by 2050.

The Ambassador also highlighted Vietnamese efforts in green transition and digital transformation towards a green, circular, and sustainable economy.

The country hopes to co-operate with friends and partners, especially those leading in green growth and with experience in energy transition like Denmark, he noted.

Delegates compared notes on the various advantages and challenges to co-operation in green transition and digital transformation, offering recommendations to Vietnam regarding green and sustainable growth.

As part of the occasion, Vietnamese software giant FPT and VidoGroup which offers travel and related services opened their representative offices in the European country, thereby demonstrating the encouraging achievements in economics, trade, and investment over recent times.
