Vietnam, China launch new cross-border rail logistics route
VOV.VN - Vietnam and China have put into operation an additional cross-border logistics route, helping improve transport connectivity and boost trade exchange between the two countries.
China Railway Nanning Group said a container train carrying 170 tonnes of calcium hydroxide departed Guigang station in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on May 23. The shipment passed through Nanning International Railway Port for transit before continuing to Yen Vien station in Vietnam.
The route was launched after the “Liuzhou-Nanning-Vietnam” logistics corridor began operations.
According to a representative of the Zhanjiang Railway Logistics Centre under China Railway Nanning Group, international freight train services offer greater flexibility and adaptability in cargo transport, allowing cross-regional and multi-route operations while meeting different transport needs of businesses, thereby expanding the China-Vietnam freight transport market.
To ensure stable and smooth operations on the new route, China’s railway sector has stepped up coordination with railway operators, customs agencies and businesses.
Relevant units have also worked out container loading plans and optimised transit procedures, helping transport export goods from inland Chinese enterprises more smoothly to border checkpoints.
The additional route is expected to provide a more stable and efficient logistics corridor for trade activities between Guangxi and Vietnam, while strengthening links in regional supply chains.
Going forward, China Railway Nanning Group will continue improving international freight train services between Vietnam and China, expand multimodal transport services and enhance regional trade connectivity.
