Vietnam attends 38th Hong Kong International Travel Expo

Most notably, along with the Vietnam Airlines branch based in Hong Kong (China), this year has seen the addition of local businesses join the expo, including Hoang Tra Tourism Company, La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc, and Caravelle Saigon Hotel, with the aim of fully tapping into tourists from Hong Kong (China) and other international markets.

At the event, Vietnamese businesses have jointly introduced natural landscapes of popular destinations from the nation such as Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Hoi An, as well as the country’s culinary arts to visitors and business representatives.

Ngo Tri Hung, head of the Vietnam Airlines Branch in Hong Kong (China), emphasised that the number of firms joining the fair is far higher compared to previous years.

According to data from Hong Kong’s tourism agencies, although its own population was only 7.5 million people before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were about 25 million people traveling abroad by air.

Hung revealed that Hong Kong (China) therefore represents a potential tourism market due to people’s high per capita income coupled with close geographical distance between the two countries.

Furthermore, the Vietnamese Government has recently introduced an e-visa policy aimed at facilitating greater travel by residents and visitors among the two countries.

Ta Le Thanh of Hoang Tra Tourism Company in Ho Chi Minh City stressed that this is the first time the firm has joined the event, hoping that it can seek additional customers and introduce Vietnamese landscapes to friends in Hong Kong (China) and from around the world.

Koko Ko, a Hong Kong resident, said that she had gained a lot of information about Vietnamese e-visa policies, local tourist attractions, and Vietnamese cuisine through attending the event.  According to organisers, the function is expected to attract about 70,000 visitors.
