VEC speeds up Danang – Quang Ngai Expressway construction
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has pledged to accelerate a project to build the expressway linking central Danang city with Quang Ngai province.
The VEC will complete components funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the World Bank (WB) to make sections of the expressway open to traffic by the end of this year, said VEC General Director Mai Tuan Anh.
The management board of the project will work hand in hand with local authorities to deal with land clearance and compensation, and create the best possible conditions for accomplishing the project by 2018.
VEC is committed to provide financial resources for contractors to resolve any arising problems during the implementation of the project, Tuan added.
The construction of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway started in 2013 with a total investment of nearly US$1.7 billion.
The 140-km expressway is of great significance for boosting social-economic development and national defence-security in the central region and improving international transportation between Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam through the East-West corridor to seaports in central Vietnam.
