US extends investigation into wooden cabinets from Vietnam

VOV.VN - The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced an extension for the decision making process regarding the final conclusion on the investigation of the product scope for wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV).

The final conclusion is therefore set to be issued on August 17, it said.

This comes after the DOC issued a preliminary determination on March 17 regarding the investigation with the allegation that the items had components such as doors, drawer fronts, and wooden frames produced in China and were combined with parts manufactured in Vietnam. Therefore, they should be subject to trade remedies that the US has placed on similar products of China.

According to the TRAV, since April, 2020, the US has imposed anti-dumping and subsidy duties on wooden cabinets originating from China, with anti-dumping duties ranging from 4.37% to 262.18% and anti-subsidy duties ranging from 13.33% to 293.45%.

On May 24, 2022, and June 7, 2022, the DOC initiated an investigation into the product scope and anti-circumvention of wooden cabinets imported from the Vietnamese market.
