US again extends duty evasion investigation into plywood from Vietnam
VOV.VN - The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced the extension of the deadline for issuing its final conclusion on a trade remedy duty evasion investigation into hardwood plywood imported from Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.
The final conclusion is expected to be issued on July 14.
This is the eighth time that the DOC has extended the deadline for issuing the final conclusion.
Earlier on July 25, 2022, the DOC issued a preliminary conclusion, stating that plywood products imported from the country using materials from China would be subject to an anti-dumping rate of 183.36% and anti-subsidy duties of between 22.98% and 194.90%.
If the materials are produced in Vietnam or other countries, then the products will be exempt from any duties.
The DOC has allowed Vietnamese enterprises subject to investigations to clarify that they do not use materials from China in order to exempt from anti-dumping measures.
The number of enterprises participating in the self-certification mechanism under the preliminary conclusion is estimated to account for approximately 80% of Vietnamese export turnover during the investigation period.
