Tuna exports to Japan jump in October
VOV.VN - Vietnamese tuna exports to Japan in October soared by 31% year on year to reach nearly US$3.5 million, according to statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
This figure offsets the decline seen in exports to the market during the first half of the year, raising the total export value in the first 10 months to nearly US$28 million, up 5% year on year.
Among the export categories, processed tuna coded HS 16, such as smoked tuna meat and marinated tuna slices (except for canned tuna), represent the major export items to this demanding market.
This is also the only product group which has witnessed an upsurge compared to the same period last year.
At present, Vietnam has over 20 enterprises to export tuna products to the Japanese market, of which, Mariso Vietnam, AH Fishco, and Evertrust Food Co., Ltd, are the three leading exporters, accounting for 66% of the total tuna export turnover to this market.
