THACO first exports semi-trailers to US
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) on December 15 held a ceremony to ship its first batch of 870 semi-trailers to the United States under a contract with PITTS Enterprises - one of the 15 largest semi-trailer manufacturers in North America.
The shipment was resulted from THACO’s market research and production promotion efforts in the US after nearly 2 years, and its semi-trailers were said to suit local customer needs and have high competitiveness.
Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien noted that the export of THACO semi-trailers to the US not only affirmed the company’s production capacity but also elevated the status of Vietnamese mechanical products in the global supply chain.
The signing of a strategic co-operation contract with PITTS Enterprises along with the handover of nearly 1,000 semi-trailers to the US partner proves THACO’s outstanding efforts, dynamism, creativity, and spectacular resilience amid global supply chain disruption due to COVID-19, said Dien.
Under the contract, THACO will export 15,500 semi-trailers to the US with a total value of US$215 million next year. The US partner has already transferred 30% of the contract value as a deposit to the Vietnamese firm.
Besides semi-trailers, THACO has exported Kia passenger cars to Myanmar and Thailand, buses to the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore, and trucks to Cambodia.
The company has also supplied OEM components to domestic automobile partners such as Toyota, Isuzu, Hyundai, and Piaggio while simultaneously outsourcing mechanical and industrial products for other partners, namely General Electric, Doosan, and Makitech.
It has shipped several mechanical products related to supporting industries to a number of large and high-end markets, such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, the UK, and the United Arab Emirates.
Semi-trailers have been identified as strategic products in which THACO enjoys competitive advantages from key markets.
