Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal sets new monthly cargo record
VOV.VN - Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) handled a record monthly volume of 221,819 TEUs in July 2026, equivalent to 3.2 million tonnes of cargo, surpassing its previous high set in August 2025.
Located in Tan Phuoc Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the deep-water terminal recorded its highest-ever throughput in July. The result reflects its expanding operational capacity and signals a positive recovery in import-export and logistics activities within the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port complex.
During July, the terminal serviced 45 mother vessels across 13 international routes, 13 domestic feeder ships, and 83 Cambodia transshipment barges. Vessel handling productivity averaged over 138 containers per hour per ship, while average gate turnaround time remained at approximately 15 minutes per container, maintaining stable operations despite the sharp volume increase.
In the first half of 2026, Vietnam’s total import-export turnover grew 27.1% year-on-year. The Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster alone processed roughly 3.9 million TEUs, up 9.2%, with 53 international shipping routes directly connecting to major markets globally.
