Son La officially exports longans to EU and UK markets

This comes as part of the Longan Festival 2022 that was held on July 23 in Song Ma district of Son La province. 

As part of the occasion, the province also exported eight tonnes of longan to the Chinese market. These have been the locality's first export batches of longan this year.

According to Song Ma district’s People's Committee, the district has so far granted 46 codes for longan growing areas, of which nine codes have been used to export to the United States, and 21 codes to the Chinese market. In addition, 16 area codes have been used to produce longan for export to both Australia and New Zealand.

At present, Song Ma district has nine packaging facilities for longan exports. The district’s fresh longan output is estimated to be at roughly 60,000 tonnes this year, of which 40,000 tonnes are expected to be processed into longan products, 18,400 tonnes for domestic consumption, and approximately 1,600 tonnes for export.

As of July 22, over 23,400 tonnes of longans in the locality worth roughly VND555 billion have been consumed.
