Russian firms explore investment opportunities in Can Tho

VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is fully committed to creating the optimal conditions for businesses, including those from Russia, to operate successfully in the locality.

Tran Viet Truong, head of the Can Tho municipal administration, was speaking while receiving a delegation of Russian businesses on May 27 that were seeking investment opportunities in the fields of supply chain, import and export, technical infrastructure, and logistics.

He introduced to the Russian guests the investment environment in Vietnam in general and Can Tho in particular, as well as a number of infrastructure projects at industrial parks and logistics centers calling for investment.

He told his guests that Can Tho makes every effort to improve its business environment to attract domestic and foreign investors.

At the reception, Shigabutdinov Ruslan, member of the Board of Directors of TAIF Group, said the firm which specializes in petrochemical refining is keen to learn about seaport services, logistics, and petrochemical refining in the city.

As of May, Can Tho is home to 86 FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of roughly US$2.2 billion from 22 countries and territories. However, at present there is no project with direct investment capital from Russian businesses.

The Can Tho leader expressed hope that Russian businesses would eye investment projects in agriculture and port logistics in the locality.

Can Tho also wishes to promote trade ties and export its key products such as rice, processed agricultural, and aquatic products to the Russian market, said Truong.
