RoK opens new container shipping route to Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Port of Incheon Incorporated announced plans on May 24 to launch a new container shipping route from Incheon Port to various destinations throughout both Thailand and Vietnam.

The latest route, known as "NKT" (New Korea Thailand), starts at Incheon Port, traversing a number of parts in the RoK, Hong Kong and China before reaching Laem Chabang and Bangkok Ports in Thailand and ending at Tan Cang Cat Lai Port in southern Vietnam.

Three container ships will utilise this route, with each having a capacity of between 1,500 and 1,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). These vessels belong to three RoK firms, namely Korea Shipping Co. Ltd, Chun Kyung Shipping Co. Ltd, and Namsung Shipping Co. Ltd. According to the schedule, one container ship will be launched on the route every week.

The Port of Incheon Incorporated anticipates that this new transport route will contribute to promoting freight import and export activities, whilst also providing stable transport services between the RoK and Southeast Asia.
