Online consultation session seeks to boost Vietnamese durian exports
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) is set to host a consultation session on July 22 in an effort to boost the export of Vietnamese durian products to foreign markets.
The event is anticipated to provide an ideal venue for Vietnamese durian firms to gain greater insights into market demands so as to increase the export of the fruit.
China remains the largest importer of Vietnamese durian, although the fruit is mainly exported to this market via unofficial channels. The fruit has only been officially exported through all of the northern neighbour’s border gates since July 11.
At present, Vietnamese durian has achieved a dominant position in Australia, the largest market in the Oceania region, following the launch of a series of unique brands such as ASEAN Produce, Vin Eni, Basel, Uu Dam, and No1.
Most notably, Vietnamese Ri6 durian has hit the shelves of several supermarkets and food stores throughout Sydney and New South Wales.
According to industry experts, the global durian fruit market is anticipated to reach US$28.6 billion in 2025 and will achieve an average growth rate of 7.2% in the 2019 - 2025 period.
To seize upon this opportunity, local businesses have been advised to seek new markets, and develop fresh brands for Vietnamese durian to make further inroads into foreign markets.
