Nationwide grand sale launched to boost consumer spending

VOV.VN - Vietnam has launched its first nationwide grand sale campaign of 2026, offering discounts of up to 100% as part of efforts to stimulate domestic consumption, support businesses and contribute to economic growth.

Running from July 1 to July 31, the First Vietnam Grand Sale 2026, organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), brings together businesses, cooperatives, household businesses and retailers nationwide. It is one of Vietnam’s largest annual trade promotion programmes aimed at revitalising the domestic market amid continued economic recovery.

Boosting domestic demand through nationwide promotions

The month-long campaign is designed to encourage consumer spending while helping businesses expand sales, strengthen brand recognition and improve market access.

According to the MoIT, the programme is expected to stimulate production and commercial activities, contributing to broader economic growth, as well as increasing public awareness of Vietnamese products and services through coordinated promotional campaigns across the country.

Beyond retail promotions, the campaign also provides an opportunity for provinces and cities to showcase local specialties, OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods and regional products through trade fairs, exhibitions and cultural events, creating stronger links between commerce, tourism and local economic development.

The programme reflects Vietnam’s broader strategy of leveraging domestic consumption as an important driver of sustainable economic growth alongside exports and investment.

Discounts of up to 100%

One of the programme’s most notable features is the flexibility granted to participating businesses in designing promotional campaigns.

Under the MoIT’s Circular No. 39/2025/TT-BCT, merchants are permitted to offer promotional incentives with a maximum discount value of up to 100% during the campaign period, the highest level allowed under the programme.

Businesses may implement a wide range of promotional activities, including direct discounts, buy-one-get-one-free offers, complimentary gifts, shopping vouchers, customer loyalty programmes, flash sales and other sales promotion initiatives in accordance with Vietnamese regulations.

The expanded promotional framework is expected to benefit both consumers and businesses. Shoppers gain access to quality products at significantly reduced prices, while enterprises can accelerate inventory turnover, increase sales and strengthen their competitiveness in the domestic market.

Combining traditional retail and e-commerce

The MoIT encourages businesses to implement promotions across both conventional retail channels and digital platforms in order to maximise consumer outreach.

In addition to discounts offered at supermarkets, shopping centres, retail stores and distribution networks, participating enterprises are encouraged to launch promotional campaigns on e-commerce marketplaces, corporate websites and other online sales platforms.

The omnichannel approach not only expands consumer access but also supports Vietnam’s ongoing digital transformation in the retail sector by encouraging greater integration between physical stores and online commerce.

As e-commerce continues to grow rapidly in Vietnam, the campaign is expected to further accelerate digital retail adoption while creating new opportunities for businesses to reach customers nationwide.

Ensuring consumer protection and market transparency

Following the launch of the programme, provincial Departments of Industry and Trade have been tasked with coordinating implementation, encouraging local businesses to participate and promoting the campaign to consumers.

At the same time, market surveillance authorities have been instructed to strengthen inspections and enforcement throughout the campaign in order to prevent trade fraud, smuggling, counterfeit goods, substandard products and other violations affecting consumer rights.

Participating businesses are required to fully comply with Vietnam’s regulations on trade promotion, ensuring that all promotional activities remain transparent, accurate and fair to consumers.

The enhanced oversight is intended to foster a healthy retail environment and to reinforce consumer confidence during the nationwide shopping campaign.

Supporting economic growth through stronger domestic consumption

With participation expected from manufacturers, retailers, distributors and e-commerce platforms across the country, the First Vietnam Grand Sale 2026 is expected to become one of Vietnam's most significant consumer promotion events this year.

Beyond stimulating purchases, the campaign aims to improve the circulation of goods, support business recovery and expansion, and strengthen the domestic market as an increasingly important pillar of economic growth.

It also serves as an opportunity to promote Vietnamese products, enhance consumer confidence in locally produced goods and reinforce the country’s long-term strategy of building a modern, resilient and sustainable domestic market.

By combining large-scale promotional activities with stronger digital commerce and consumer protection measures, the nationwide campaign is expected to create new momentum for domestic consumption and contribute to Vietnam’s broader economic development objectives in 2026.
