Min of Commerce to promote Samut Sakhon as global kitchen

The Ministry of Commerce has met with the economic leaders of eight central provinces to discuss promoting Samut Sakhon Province as a global kitchen. 

Commerce Minister Sonthirat Sonthijirawong, met today with leaders of economic organizations in the trade, industrial, agricultural, and fishing industries of eight central provinces to discuss trade and investment development policies. The policies, which will be proposed for Cabinet consideration, include promoting Samut Sakhon a global kitchen due to its abundance of marine life. 

The proposal involves developing markets for marine wildlife, vegetables and fruit, and flowers in all eight central provinces. It will also promote geographical indication (GI) certification for products from Samut Sakhon, such as coconuts, longan, and salt. 

Other central region products will be promoted, including lychees, pomeloes, rose apples, limes, brown sugar, and Khanom Mo Kaeng from Phetchaburi; also listed are durian and pomelo from Nakhon Pathom; and pineapple from Ratchaburi. 

The proposal will also support local tourism by connecting travel destinations and incorporating local products in the tour experience.
