“Made in Vietnam” Macbook and iPad to be manufactured locally
VOV.VN - With plans to manufacture Apple products in Vietnam, Fukang Technology Company Limited, a member of Foxconn Group, is applying for an environmental license for exhaust treatment systems at its iPad and Macbook production lines in Bac Giang province.
Fukang revealed the information in its report proposing environmental licenses for the second phase of its Bac Giang project.
According to the report, some Macbook and iPad assembly lines have already been completed. However, exhaust treatment systems still need to be installed.
The Fukang Technology Factory project in Quang Chau Industrial Park of Bac Giang province received its first investment registration certificate in January 2021 with a total investment capital of US$508 billion.
In February 2024, the project was licensed to produce tablets, laptops, and motherboards from competent authorities in the northern locality.
The factory is anticipated to have an assembly capacity of about 16.1 million tablets and laptops per year.
Foxconn, which is Apple’s biggest supplier, initially began building factories in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and several other provinces around Vietnam in March 2007, to manufacture a variety of products, from computers, information technology equipment, consumer electronics to auto components and semiconductor devices.
In early July, the group also received investment licenses for two projects to produce game machines and smart entertainment products in Quang Ninh province, with a total investment capital of US$551 million.
