Japanese buyers explore Lam Dong supply chain, eye coffee and tea imports

VOV.VN - A delegation of Vietnamese businesses in Japan, together with Japanese importers and representatives of retail chains in the Kansai region, is conducting a supply-chain survey in Lam Dong province to explore opportunities for sourcing coffee, green tea and matcha from Vietnam.

The two-day programme, taking place on June 24-25, is organised by the Vietnam-Japan Business Association (VJBA) in cooperation with Aikai Group Co., Ltd and Shinsei Co., Ltd.

The visit aims to assess production capacity, product quality and compliance with Japan's stringent import standards while identifying long-term partnership opportunities with local producers.

They plan to visit raw-material areas and production facilities in Lac Duong and Bao Loc, two major agricultural hubs in Lam Dong. The focus is on coffee, green tea and matcha – products with growing potential in the Japanese market, where consumers increasingly value traceability, premium quality and sustainable production practices.

On June 24, the delegation joined a Vietnam-Japan business networking event in Da Lat organised by the Lam Dong Business Association. The event provided an opportunity for companies from both countries to discuss cooperation prospects and showcase local agricultural specialties.

The delegation will meet local authorities in Lac Duong on June 25 to learn more about agricultural development potential and export-oriented products suitable for the Japanese market. They will then visit tea farms, inspect VOCO's coffee-growing areas, and hold working sessions with VOCO Trading and Import-Export Co., Ltd. and Tang Vinh An Tea Company.

Discussions will focus on export-ready coffee, tea and matcha products, quality management systems, product standards, production capacity and potential partnerships between Vietnamese enterprises and Japanese counterparts. The group will also conduct product tastings, observe production and processing procedures, and assess the feasibility of distributing the products through retail networks in Japan.

The programme is anticipated to create further cooperation opportunities between Aikai Group and VOCO in developing market access for Lam Dong coffee products in Japan. The participation of Tang Vinh An Tea Company also broadens the scope of the survey to include green tea and matcha products, which enjoy stable demand in the Japanese market.

Through direct engagement between producers and buyers, the programme aims to build internationally compliant agricultural supply chains, strengthen export competitiveness and help Lam Dong enterprises gain deeper access to Japan's modern retail network.
