Int’l conference seeks to promote exports via e-platforms

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and Alibaba.com, a global business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform, co-hosted an international conference on March 18 as part of wider efforts to boost exports through e-platforms.

Addressing the event themed "We choose ACCELERATION", Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai revealed that Vietrade will co-operate alongside Alibaba to deploy the "Vietnam Pavilion" via Alibaba.com this year.

Such partnership will help local enterprises promote their brands and strengthen connectivity, while international partners will gain greater insights into Vietnamese products, he said.

Vu Ba Phu, director of Vietrade, emphasised that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his agency has regularly conducted trade promotion activities on digital platforms over the past two years. Vietrade and Alibaba.com have jointly organised more than 20 seminars and training courses for over 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in exports.

Andrew Zheng, deputy general director of Alibaba.com, shared that Vietnam has so far created a strong profile among global customers due to its production capacity, high-quality products, competitive prices, and orientations for export items.

Vietnamese commodities favoured in international markets include foods, beverages, farm produce, beauty and personal care services, as well as home and gardening products, he said.

He affirmed Alibaba.com will continue to co-ordinate alongside Vietrade to conduct online seminars for more than 2,500 SMEs in the future. It will also provide consulting support for local firms wishing to engage in e-commerce activities.

Alibaba.com will launch new membership products specifically for Vietnamese businesses, creating greater opportunities for them to introduce local products to consumers globally, revealed Zheng.
