Ho Chi Minh City promotes high-tech agricultural value chain links with RoK

The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh, alongside experts and business representatives from the Republic of Korea (RoK).

At the seminar, Dr. To Thi Thuy Trang from the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies noted that high-tech agriculture serves as a key solution to natural resource constraints and climate change. She cited the Netherlands as a prime example, having risen to become the world's second-largest exporter thanks to its smart greenhouse systems.

Similarly, the RoK has made strong progress through smart farm models to deal with the challenge of an aging rural workforce. These achievements spur Vietnam to accelerate its agricultural restructuring toward modern and sustainable standards.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh emphasized that the recently passed Law on Urban Development provides an important legal basis for Ho Chi Minh City to innovate its growth model and build a modern, green, smart, and sustainable urban area.

The city aims to shift from agricultural production to developing an urban agricultural economy, focusing on high value, advanced technology, and low emissions, while linking production with processing, logistics, trade, eco-tourism, and international markets.

In this process, the Ho Chi Minh City Agricultural Hi-Tech Park plays a central role in connecting scientists, institutes, universities, businesses, investors, and the market.
