Ho Chi Minh City expands high-tech park to attract strategic industries

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a plan to expand the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP), adding a science and technology park component to a 194.8-hectare site in Long Phuoc Ward to attract strategic technology industries.

To keep the project on schedule, the municipal People's Committee has instructed relevant departments to speed up investment preparations, complete legal procedures, and expedite land acquisition, compensation, site clearance and resettlement.

Under the master plan, the expansion area will feature smart, environmentally friendly infrastructure designed to support the city's goal of achieving carbon neutrality before 2050.

The new zone will house research and development facilities for high-tech and strategic technologies, while providing technology incubation, workforce training, technology transfer and commercialization services. The expansion is expected to transform SHTP into one of the region's leading research, development and innovation hubs.

To attract investors, the city will introduce incentives targeting high-tech and strategic technology projects, including research and development (R&D) centers.

Nguyen Ky Phung, Head of the Saigon Hi-Tech Park Management Board, said SHTP currently hosts 166 valid investment projects with total registered capital exceeding US$13.7 billion. Foreign direct investment (FDI) accounts for more than US$11 billion, representing over 80% of the park's total investment.

The management board aims to attract around US$1.6 billion in new investment in 2026, focusing on high technology, core technologies and innovation.

To attract more high-quality investment, Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating the development of the 194.8-hectare expansion in Long Phuoc Ward under a next-generation high-tech park model integrating digital infrastructure, green infrastructure, and research and innovation spaces.
