HCM City retailers dispatch goods to support northern storm response
VOV.VN - Major retail chains in Ho Chi Minh City, including Saigon Co.op and MM Mega Market, are stepping up shipments of essential goods to northern Vietnam and pledging to maintain stable prices as Typhoon Wipha brings heavy rain and flooding to the region.
To ensure uninterrupted supply for potentially affected areas, retailers have activated contingency plans targeting Hanoi and other northern localities. Saigon Co.op’s Co.opmart and Co.op Food stores have tripled their stock of essential items in these markets.
MM Mega Market Vietnam has also raised its reserves by 30%–50%, including a 1.5-fold increase in vegetables and fruit, and a 2.5-fold increase in candles to meet sudden demand. Dried foods are also being stockpiled in greater quantities.
Key goods include rice, instant noodles, eggs, meat, vegetables, spices, bottled water, and hygiene products.
To support logistics, major distribution centers nationwide have prioritized deliveries to northern provinces. Saigon Co.op’s nearly 800 outlets nationwide are also operating as satellite warehouses to ensure rapid and efficient replenishment where needed.
Retailers have reaffirmed their commitment to price stability across their systems, underscoring their role in supporting communities during extreme weather conditions.
