VOV.VN - Both the Vietnam Saigon Textile and Garment Industry (SaigonTex) and the Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2022 (SaigonFabric) officially opened on July 27 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The two events attracted the participation of 278 foreign exhibitors from 16 countries and territories around the world, including China, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Turkey, UK, United States, and Vietnam.
Upon addressing the event, Vo Tan Thanh, vice president of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), emphasised that the events have contributed to creating opportunities for local and foreign garment textile firms to introduce their cutting-edge machinery and equipment to the market, seek greater co-operation opportunities, and expand their production.
As part of his opening speech at the occasion, Cao Huu Hieu, general director of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), pointed out that the annual expos have become the most anticipated event of the local garment and textile industry and affirmed the sector's prestige among both domestic and international markets.
Through these functions, Vinatex and relevant units will continue to develop product brands, get to grips with the latest development trends, and strive to improve supply chains with a specific focus on technology integration and digital governance, Hieu added.
For his part, Le Hoang Tai, deputy director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), underscored the importance of the sector in generating high export value and creating jobs for local workers, noting that the industry has made remarkable achievements over the past two years, despite enduring disruptions in the supply source of raw materials as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the country raked in roughly US$22 billion from garment and textile exports during the first half of the year, up 23% against the same period from last year.
Within the framework of the event, a series of seminars are taking place with enterprises being updated with the latest policies and solutions, which aim to improve production capacity and competitiveness in a bid to integrate more effectively into the global market.
